Enjoying the Yahoo Purple Hunt!

Last April, I got contacted by Jonas who formerly worked for Yehey and is now with Yahoo! in relation to the upcoming Yahoo! Purple Hunt. He was tapping me as a power user of Yahoo Groups. I agreed for the following reasons:

  1. Doing this for the love of Yahoo!
DigitalFilipino would not have grown and stayed up to this day without its discussion group turned mailing list community hosted in Yahoo Groups.
  2. Now or never
I want to be part of this unique experience because there may not be a 2nd chance to do so.
  3. Learn from it
Anyone who is into social network marketing can learn a lot from this experience as the whole hunt tapped into the various communities, platforms, and relationship of users.
  4. Meet new people
Being in touch with fellow users allowed me to make new friends. For me, that is the greatest value of it all.

This whole Yahoo! Purple Hunt will be over by July 25. I'm very thankful to be part of this amazing experience. To all Purple Hunters, good luck!

DigitalFilipino.com home page updated

I normally update the DigitalFilipino.com home page twice a year. I hope this simple update will make it very friendly to first time visitors. In addition, get straight to the point on what is being marketed online, like the books and club membership.

Credibility and endorsement: Internet advertising and DigitalFilipino

I recently got an inquiry from an international site wanting to have their ad posted in DigitalFilipino.com.

This is something that I usually get and have refrained from accepting such type of offers directly for several reasons.

Credibility and endorsement
While a potential advertiser product may be good, oftentimes loyal site visitors believe that you are accountable to any advertisement appearing in your website, especially if its very specialized in nature. Unlike Google AdSense which is common to a lot of websites, a brand advertisement do have some strings attached.

The moment the advertisement contract ended, the relationship is also terminated. If they have fouled up in their service and disgruntled folks signed up through you - that's an instant accountability on the website owner.

Alternative approach
So whenever offers for advertisement get served to me through e-mail or phone call, I always advise the company to sign up as a corporate club member instead in the DigitalFilipino.com Club.

Instead of paying me US$300 to US$500 per month, they just pay a one-year corporate club membership fee and be part of our banner ad rotation system. This also gives me the opportunity to get to know the new members much better and explore areas where the club and its members can be of benefit.

I guess you can say that I invest in something more serious or a committed inner circle relationship with peers. Not just a fancy fling where I-use-you and you-use-me.

Ituloy AngSulong accepted in ReviewMe!

Last November 12, I got an email from ReviewMe that invites bloggers and webmasters to write reviews and earn from it. I accepted and wrote my first review then.

At that time, DigitalFilipino.com and Philippine Internet Review were my approved sites. My Ituloy AngSulong blog site was declined then.

Earlier this week, I submitted and finally found my Ituloy AngSulong blog site approved. Not bad for a two month old blog site.

Chikka: The New Multinational

I got asked to give some thoughts when this article was being developed. I just realized that it is already online but my attributes are not correct. I'm no longer president of PICS. I wish I was attributed as simply of DigitalFilipino.com and my name spelled correctly.

Chikka is certainly doing well. They are working very hard in making their services sustainable. Furthermore, their recent CMMI Level 5 certification only shows their level of commitment in getting their products done with high quality processes.

I certainly believe that Chikka will always continue to innovate.
